contrastlight / shadows
in this section I will be experimenting with different lighting, to give depth and clarity to photos, creating outlines and enhancing natural features of a person. Lighting is a key aspect of photography and can transform a picture. blurry inserts and silhouettes will also be included as an aspect of interest, as this type of photo masks an identity in some aspects and therefore almost contrasting with the overall purpose of this topic. however it leaves us with a clear sheet for interpretation. these pictures of mine are taken primarily for the reason of interpretation, little is given away in each which will intrigue an audience. further on in this section i will also be photographing hands in detail as I believe these are a key aspect of identity as they often show what a person has been through in their lifetime, you can interpret a great amount about an individual through their hands. another key aspect of identity is eyes, in my opinion, and i will be revisiting this in more detail, as i have already done a basic photo shoot of eyes in the first section of this project. eyes are a persons individuality, they are all unique and show represent identity well. I will be photographing a range of close up eyes using lighting and shadows to create detailed images of them. to the right are some work of photographers who have inspired me to interpret this theme, and below are my own photos. linking with the title of 'contrast'. most/all images are taken in black and white as this enhances the light contrast. |

refining ideas
Here, I put an image of smoke over the top of the portrait and decreased the opacity. The soft, undefined smoke contrasts with the well defined and sharp portrait behind.
